At approximately 6:55 pm Town of Fishkill Police were dispatched to a reported car vs. pedestrian auto accident on Route 9 southbound, just north of West Merritt Blvd.

Officers and EMS arrived on scene and located an unconscious male in the roadway with serious injuries. Preliminary investigation suggests the injured party was crossing Route 9 with several other people in an easterly direction on an unlit part of the roadway. A vehicle travelling southbound, operated by a 37-year-old Wappingers Falls women struck the pedestrian.

The injured pedestrian was transported to St. Lukes Hospital via Mobil Life Ambulance and subsequently transferred to Westchester County Medical Center in critical condition. Southbound lanes of Route 9 were closed for several hours while The New York State Police – Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the crash. Town of Fishkill Police and New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Village of Fishkill Police, Rombout Fire Department, Protection Engine Company and Mobile Life EMS.
