Patrol Services Division

The Town of Fishkill Police Patrol Division is the largest and most visible detail of the police department. It is responsible for all general police services throughout the 32 square miles of the Town, providing support for 23,000 residents. The division supervisor is a lieutenant who oversees all patrol operations including personnel consisting of 8 patrol sergeants and 30 patrol officers.

Patrol is conducted by uniformed officers in clearly marked patrol vehicles in assigned jurisdictional areas of Fishkill. The function of patrol is to respond to calls for assistance and reports of criminal activity, act as a deterrent to crime, enforce state and local laws, identify community needs, provide support and assistance to the community and respond to emergencies.

Patrol Division services include, but are not limited to:

  • Response to emergency calls for service
  • Complaint investigation
  • Patrol of the town
  • Protection of life and property
  • Traffic safety and enforcement
  • Court Security

Special Services Division

The Special Operations Division oversees unique resources provided to the Town which include:

  1. Detective Bureau
  2. Community Policing Unit
  3. DARE
  4. Animal Control

The Detective Bureau is the investigative arm of the police department which handles a wide variety of investigations ranging from burglaries and credit card fraud to elder abuse, kidnapping, and homicide. The Detectives spend many hours solving crimes and prosecuting offenders. The Detectives also make themselves available around the clock in order to provide expertise and take over major investigations.

The Community Policing Unit identifies and implements neighborhood based police services to reduce crime, improve the quality of life, and engage community members in building partnerships and solving problems.

Administrative Services Division

The responsibilities of the Administrative Service Division are diverse in nature. Briefly stated, they are to support the line functions of the department, oversee the purchase and implementation of department equipment and provide the services of the following specialized units to our community.
