An investigation by Town of Fishkill Police Detectives resulted in the arrest of a Newburgh Man CARMELO REYES -FLORES, 39 of Newburgh.
On August 3, 2021 at about 5am police responded for a report of a man lying on the side of the road in the area of Rt 82 and Lafayette Place in the Town. The 74 year old victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. A preliminary investigation by the Town of Fishkill Patrol Division determined the pedestrian was walking east on Rt 82 and was struck by a vehicle also travelling eastbound. That vehicle left the scene. Patrol officers located parts of a vehicle at the scene which later identified the suspects vehicle. An investigation by Detectives resulted in the identification of a person of interest. After a month long investigation, Detectives assisted by Patrol, interviewed and subsequently arrested CARMELO REYES-FLORES of Newburgh. Reyas was processed on the following charges, Leaving the Scene of a (Serious) Personal Injury Auto Accident (E Felony), Circumventing Interlock Device (A Misd) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd (A Misd) as well as numerous Vehicle and Traffic violations. REYES -FLORES was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Fishkill Town Court.
